Convicted St. Landry Parish priest Michael Guidry has been placed on the Acadia Parish sex offender registry after being released from the parish jail on Friday.

Guidry's status is listed as active, but a tier level has not yet been assigned. He is currently on house arrest at an Acadia Parish address and will be monitored with the use of an ankle bracelet.

Guidry was convicted in 2019 to 10 years in prison for Molestation of a Juvenile, but was released on bond after his defense counsel requested an emergency appeal hearing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Louisiana State Police list statute 14:81.2 - Molestation of a Juvenile as a Tier II offense, which would require a 25-year registration period conducted semi-annually.
