Downtown Lafayette is overrun today with poets and various artists from across Louisiana. The Word Crawl is being held today downtown along Jefferson Avenue.

This event brings together a diverse group of literature lovers and creative enthusiasts. The "crawlers" will be situated in various venues including cafes, museums, and bars.

Word Crawl invites creatives of all kinds to participate, perform, and help in fundraising efforts.

Last year, the fundraiser rallied in over 50 artists. The event includes different portions: daytime hours welcome all ages, evening hours may include adult amterial, and even a portion for Francophone writers.

All funds raised go towards the Festival of Words in November, which brings established authors to give public readings and writing workshops in community centers and public school classrooms.
