The Scott Police Department will hold a blood and convalescent plasma drive next Wednesday, May 13, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The blood drive is in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Blood Donor Center. Officials with the center say that many previously canceled surgeries are now back on schedule, which means healthcare workers need an adequate blood supply to meet those needs. Many blood drives have also been canceled, causing inventories to decline.

Anyone wishing to donate should eat beforehand and bring a photo ID. To schedule a donation, call Beverly Meche at 337-280-7322.

The drive will be held at 129 Lions Club Road in Scott.

OLOL is also looking for convalescent plasma donors - people who have fully recovered from COVID-19 have antibodies in their plasma that can attack the virus. The plasma is being used as treatment for patients seriously ill with COVID-19.

If you or someone you know is interested in donating convalescent plasma, please contact Suzy Picard at 337-470-4483 or suzannepicard@fmolsh.org.
