Sacred Heart Broussard to hold Mass at local park

Sacred Heart of Jesus in Broussard will be holding "Sacred Heart at the Park" on Sunday, May 3, under the guidance of Gov. Edwards and Bishop Deshotel with the Diocese of Lafayette.

Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Julian Sports Complex soccer field, located at 701 St. Nazaire Road in Broussard.

Everyone will be following social distancing guidelines of remaining six feet apart and will be required to wear face masks (children three years and older must wear a face mask and/or stay with parents and remain six feet away from those who are not family members) . Everyone is encouraged to bring hand sanitizer.

People will be on site directing traffic and where to sit. Those in attendance are encouraged to also bring a blanket and/or chairs to sit on, hats, and water.

If you have a Sacred Heart shirt, wear it! And bring your family and friends.

Although Mass will be sadi publicly, by order of the Bishop parishioners are still dispensed from Sunday obligation. Persons who are ill (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, loss of taste/smell, etc.), 65 years old or older, and those with pre-existing conditions should not and are not obligated to attend Mass.
