A new sculpture now stands in UL's art museum.
The statue of Paul Hilliard was unveiled during a special dedication tonight, recognizing Hilliard's generosity and contributions to the university and Acadiana.
"What separates Paul is the level of generosity and his commitment to the arts and his commitment to arts education, and really his commitments to this community, and that's what sets him apart and makes him apart and makes him worthy of celebrating," said Susan Gottardi, Hilliard Marketing Director.
Tonight's celebration included a presentation by Ivan Schwartz, creator of the Paul Hilliard statue.
Hilliard played a major part in establishing the university's art museum in 1995 with a pledge of $5 million.
The museum welcomes nearly 19,000 guests each year to view exhibits and collections that inspire university students, the community, and local school children.
