Originally anticipated to open this spring, Moncus Park's grand opening is now being delayed until the end of the year.

The park recently secured more donations, so the plan is now to add more features.

Instead of opening in the spring and closing again for construction, the team decided to delay the grand opening.

Among the new features will be a treehouse designed by "Treehouse Master" Pete Nelson.

"We have a treehouse being built by Treehouse Masters, playground, splashpad. Lots of donors came to the table in the last two years that we wanted to get these projects done so that when we do open the park later, we will actually have so many more things for this community to enjoy," explained E.B. Brooks, Executive Director at the park.

“After many discussions within the community and with our benefactors, the board of directors felt as though adding additional features as soon as possible will make Moncus Park’s Grand Opening even more ‘grand’,” said Lenny Lemoine, chairman of the board. “Having these important play and entertainment spaces in place will make it an even more exciting destination for our region.”
