350 students who otherwise might not have received anything for Christmas will be getting a gift this year.

It's all thanks to more than 1,000 toys that were collected throughout Lafayette Parish this holiday season.

The gifts were all taken to J.W. Faulk Elementary, where they were divided up and distributed to 7 Lafayette Parish schools, including Alice Boucher Elementary, Ossun Elementary, and Charles Burke Elementary.

"It's the strangest thing to see," said Tehmi Chassion, LPSS school board member in District 4.

"You put a donation box and one day it's empty, and then the next day it's full. It's like those folks trust us to be sure that, you know, they're going to give that to kids that need it and that's the best feeling ever."
