The Lafayette Parish School System is working with the Sheriff's Office to educate students and parents about the consequences of making threats, terrorizing, and bullying.
School resource officers will present a Powerpoint in schools. The program will be tailored for elementary, middle, and high school students.
LPSS will also hold informational meetings for parents in the coming weeks.
"Every threat is taken seriously," explained Allison Dickerson, Public Information Officer for LPSS, "No threats will be considered just a joke and be brushed under a rug or disregarded. We just want to educate them because really having the information and the knowledge is just half the battle. We just feel that it's appropriate and it's time to have these conversations with our students."
