LPD: One dead after overnight stabbing, woman booked for Second Degree Murder

Lafayette Police are investigating an overnight stabbing on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive that left one man dead.

Cpl. Bridgette Dugas says officers responded to an apartment in the 800 block of MLK Dr. at 10:47 p.m. Friday night in reference to a possible stabbing in progress.

When police arrived, they located a 31-year-old male outside with a stab wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested 26-year-old Elizabeth Marie Ann Alfred of Lafayette.

Alfred was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked on an active warrant for Second Degree Murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
