Local legislators, activists, and supporters of Governor John Bel Edwards met today at a roundtable in Lafayette to discuss Eddie Rispone's plan to repeal Medicaid expansion and how it would affect Acadiana.

Lafayette-area legislators Rep. Dustin Miller and Rep. -Elect Marcus Bryant joined local activists for the roundtable, which was held at The Abacus Restaurant.

Rispone has said if elected he will "freeze" Medicaid enrollment.

Similar events are planned throughout Louisiana this week.

Mark Majors, President and CEO of MedExpress Ambulance Service, said there's a "real concern" throughout the healthcare community about the possibility of repealing Medicaid.

He said the idea of a freeze "puts at risk" good work that has been done in the healthcare community.

Majors said the goal of the roundtable was to explain what the freeze would mean, and he believes their objective was accomplished.
