The Lafayette Public Library is announcing two limited edition library cards for 2019 in celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month.

The Library has paired with the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind families, students, and people of all ages that signing up for a library card "opens a world of possibilities."

Access to a library offers many things that a family may not have at home, including a quiet place to study and Wi-Fi.

The library is offering two new limited-edition cards in honor of Library Card Sign-Up Month.

Patrons can choose from a Toy Story 4 themed card as well as a card featuring "Little Red Tricycle with Fleur de Lis," a painting by celebrated artist Vergie Banks.

Vergie Banks is an artist from Lafayette who is known for her vibrantly colored, cubist-influenced paintings "that celebrate the rich heritage and culture of Acadiana."

Her "Little Red Tricycle" series is one of her better known series.

The paintings feature a little girl on her three-wheeler and evoke the excitement of adventure and the nostalgia of childhood.

Both library cards will be available to the public beginning September 1st, until supplies last.

For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit any location of the Lafayette Public Library or visit the library's website here.
