Lafayette Parish students received information today about historical black colleges in the state.

An HBC College Fair was held today at the Downtown Lafayette Library.

Students got a chance to talk to representatives from Southern, Grambling, Dillard, and Xavier Universities.

The event is held to encourage students to consider attending an HBCU.

"We need to continue the legacy of HBCUs, continue to send our students there as they produce some of the nation's highest doctors, lawyers, as well as educators," explained Brandi Clay, founder of The Educational Dreamer, a series meant to change the educational experiences of students.
