Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, which was closed in 2016, is scheduled to be renovated starting early next year, according to The Advocate.

The clinic was closed when Louisiana expanded Medicaid. This caused patient population to drop significantly in a short amount of time. The property was donated to the Lafayette General Foundation three years ago.

Officials announced at the hospital's Health Care Heroes gala that proceeds from the gala would go towards the clinic's renovations, which will cost $1 million.

More than half a million dollars have already been raised for the project.

According to The Associated Press, the clinic will reopen in late 2020 and will be called Lafayette General Healthcare Clinic.
