Former director addresses LUS and LUS Fiber Issues

Today, former director of LUS and LUS Fiber Terry Huval held a press conference at City Club in Lafayette.

Huval provided information disputing the Robideaux administration's stance on LUS and LUS Fiber. The event came less than 24 hours after a story posted by our media partners at The Advocate about the recent back-and-forth between Mayor President Joel Robideaux and some members of the City-Parish Council.

This week, two councilmen have requested that the Robideaux administration appear at next week's council meeting to explain some discrepancies about his recent actions and statements about LUS. As reported in the Advocate story, Robideaux responded, making accusations about some practices at LUS that began during Huval's term. It was those accusations that Huval addressed at the press conference today, explaining how LUS went about setting up the processes. He also noted that the processes had been approved by LUS and Lafayette City-Parish attorneys.

This is not the first time LUS has been the topic of dispute between the council and the mayor's office. To read more about the history, read our story here and another by The Current here.
