Students from Edward J. Sam Accelerated School in Lafayette celebrated tonight as they received their long-anticipated diplomas.
The non-traditional school focuses on the individual needs of each child.
Jodi Duhon, principal of Edward J. Sam, explained, "They're able to move slower in courses that they may struggle in, but they can accelerate in the courses where they are stronger. So it's a great way for students who have fallen behind to be able to catch up, and also great for students who are on track to be able to accelerate through."
The school opened in the summer of 2017. It services students from grades 7-12 year-round.
