Witness an Acadiana breakfast institution, a local restaurant keeping its doors open to serve both its employees and its customers.

And it comes at a time when Edie's should be celebrating its 30th birthday.

Owner Stanley Leece says in 30 years of business, he's never experienced anything like what's happening in Acadiana and across the country.

Life for this Lafayette eatery has become about way more than just a biscuit.

Leece wants to reassure the public that Edie's is open and is taking precautions inside the building.

"We have put up multiple hand sanitizers. Several we didn't have before this," explains Leece. "Sanitized rags in front for employees to use and touch each time they make a cash transaction."

They're also maintaining safe distances and have closed off the area usually used for sit-down customers. As per rules and regulations, although customers can't pull up a chair and hang out for an hour, they are indeed more than welcome, and allowed, to open the front door.

"They can continue to walk up, place your order, walk out. It does not have to be a call-in order. So please continue to patronize the many restaurants that are open," said Leece.
