New fire safety technology is helping the Carencro Fire Department keep on top of their daily duties.

This week, the department unveiled a brand new piece of Public Safety Technology developed to help firefighters obtain and process real time information including who's on duty, emergency call information, street closure information and equipment status.

The digital dashboards have been installed at each fire station in Carencro and was developed in partnership with First Arriving, a Fire/EMS media, marketing and tech service company.

According to Chief David Mouton, Carencro is the first fire department in the state to use the dashboard technology.

“We are excited to be the first Fire Department in Louisiana to be utilizing this technology. It allows us to streamline our internal communications in a more efficient manner. With the Dashboards, all on duty personnel have the information needed for daily operations.”

The department shared photos of the digital dashboards in a Facebook post on Friday, September 27. See that post below.

"The Dashboards integrate directly with Dispatch Computers and when a call comes in, shows the most direct route to that call, from the station it is displaying from," Asst. Chief Oren Haydel said in the post. "In addition, the software uses Google Maps, which shows traffic conditions, and even a street view of the dispatched location to assist crews with finding the address in a minimal amount of time."

Firefighters say they are excited to provide the technology to members and enhance their service capabilities to the community.
