LAFAYETTE, La. — Local businesses are saying "We're Open!" so they can help out the people in their communities.
Blue Apache Mexican Restaurant began its free lunch program on Wednesday.
Every Wednesday, the restaurant will hand out 100 meals at its Lafayette location.
Employee Britney Belaire says the initiative is a way for the restaurant to give back and say, "thank you" to their customers.
"We've been open for 12 years. The community has supported us throughout those 12 years. We know people are going through hard times with the coronavirus. This is our way of continuously giving back to them."
The meals will be available each Wednesday starting at 11:30 a.m.
Blue Apache's Lafayette location is closed due to the coronavirus, but the Youngsville location remains open.
