Lafayette Police have made an arrest in connection with an April shooting on Verdun St.

Kanaisha Prejean was taken into custody without incident on Friday, May 8, after police observed her vehicle parked at a residence Prejean frequented. The homeowner gave officers permission to search the residence and Prejean was located inside.

Prejean was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on active warrants for Attempted Second Degree Murder and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm while Committing a Violent Offense.

The shooting occurred after police say a verbal altercation took place between two parties. Gunshots were fired and the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Records show Prejean is also facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery.
