Lafayette Police are investigating a Saturday morning shooting that left one person in the hospital.
LPD Spokesperson Sgt. Wayne Griffin says officers responded shortly before noon on Saturday to the 300 block of Verdun Street in regards to a shooting. Officers found a female victim there, with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Medical attention was administered to the victim by officers and she was transported to a local hospital.
An investigation revealed the victim arrived on Verdun St. and a verbal altercation ensued between two parties. Gunshots were fired, and the victim was shot in her left side.
No one is in custody at this time; a warrant is being applied for Illegal Discharge while Committing a Violent Offense.
