Alexander Books, a locally owned bookstore in Lafayette, hosted their second annual Alexanderfest on Saturday from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.

The event was a celebration of the 30 years that Alexander Books has been in business. Organizers honored Barbara, the original owner of the store, and celebrated the cultural landmark of the store.

There were vendors, food, and bands.

After Alexanderfest, the store hosted Catin Collective's October Edition of Paperback Jam Sessions with the Debtors, Berlin Taxi (NOLA), and Sirr Hurr! Vendors and doors opened at 7 PM and music starts at 8 PM.

The celebration also included other Halloween-themed events.

William Premeaux, co-owner of Alexander Books, explained why the event is important to the community.

"Just being able to give back to the Lafayette community, it's very fulfilling when people come in and they just get excited for books...they get excited to have a nice little place to sit down and read or to study or just to share stories."

The bookstore is located at 2116 Johnston St.
