This year's birthday was one to remember for one young Duson resident.
Duson Police and Fire Department led a surprise parade at Oaklawn Park for Camden Bernard to celebrate his 10th birthday.
Camden and his dad Pat were playing at the park when the parade came rolling through - and it was Pat who set up the whole surprise.
"We can't have people over to the house, can't have a crawfish boil, can't go anywhere. I saw some things happening on social media that I really liked, so I made a few phone calls, all just to put a smile on his face."
Lafayette Police and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office also participated in the parade.
Camden, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, was sworn in as a specialized Duson Police Officer last April. Chief Kip Judice heard that Camden admired police officers and offered to commission Camden as an officer in his department.
Happy 10th birthday, Camden!
