Acadia Parish seniors are celebrating a milestone this weekend, as students participate in commencement ceremonies.

Midland High School's graduating class practiced social distancing at their ceremony, which was held outdoors Friday night.

A limited number of guests were able to join them on their big night and watched from the bleachers.

Even though this year's ceremonies looked a bit different, students were thankful to celebrate the milestone with their classmates.

"It's better than what we started off with. At first we knew we weren't going to get graduation at all, but now being able to get a graduation is kind of like a sense of closure," explained MHS honor graduate Caitlin Woodard. Being able to see everyone, being able to do that last hoorah together, I think it definitely helped, it made it seem a little bit better, out of all that's happening right now."

More Acadia Parish schools are celebrating the Class of 2020 through the weekend.
