Tsunami, the popular downtown Lafayette sushi restaurant, plans to reopen Friday, June 19 after closing on Wednesday.

The restaurant closed on June 17 to regroup after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

In a Facebook post Friday, Tsunami said that they will reopen Friday and Saturday evening for dinner.

In their update, Tsunami said restaurant guests will now be required to wear a mask when entering or moving about the restaurant.

Employees were already required to wear masks to protect customers.

Once seated, customers will then be able to safely remove their masks.

"These stricter rules are a result of the speed and impact with which the virus is spreading through our community," the post reads. "We have a great responsibility to provide a safe work and dining environment for ALL. The very last thing any of us want is another closure and a mass economic shutdown in our city."

We did a "We're Open" story about the restaurant back in May. Watch it here.

The restaurant closed "out of an overabundance of caution and care" on Wednesday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. In their post, the restaurant said the case was isolated and that the closure would allow them to reassess their reopening.
