Teen arrested in connection with Lafayette fatal shooting on N. University Avenue

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting on N. University Avenue over the weekend.

Lafayette Police say that on Wednesday September 23, agents with the Middle and Western District's of Louisiana Marshals' Violent Offender Task force were able to locate the suspect wanted in the shooting at a local convenience store.

The suspect, a 17-year-old, was taking into custody. An identity has not been released.

The shooting happened on Saturday September 19 at around 11:30 pm in the 800 block of N. University Avenue. A victim was shot multiple times in the upper torso and later died at a hospital.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. LPD released images of the possible suspect in the case asking for assistance from the public. See that story here.

Damian George, 18, of Lafayette died in the Saturday evening shooting, police say.
