Lafayette Police are still searching for a suspect and more information about a deadly shooting that happened this past weekend, but they have identified the victim.
Damian George, 18, of Lafayette died in the Saturday evening shooting, police say.
Police were called to a convenience store in the 800 block of North University at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, to investigate a report of shots fired.
When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot several times in the chest. Medical assistance was provided to the man, and he was transported to a hospital, where he died, police say.
The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
Details of this incident are still being sought by investigators.
