SCOTT, La. — On Friday, March 10, 2023, at 4:10 am, according to Fire Chief Chad P. Sonnier, Scott Fire Department responded to a major vehicle accident with entrapment.
Dispatched firefighters discovered a single vehicle accident involving a semi-truck and trailer transporting hazardous materials. The trailer disconnected from the truck and came to a stop on the side of the road at the end of a ditch, Sonnier reports.
Scott firefighters requested Lafayette Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Unit for assistance.
The driver was not trapped or injured, authorities say.
The trailer was raised, and the hazardous materials secured.
The road was reopened at 8:15 am.
