Reminder: Public comments wanted in LPD accreditation process

The Lafayette Police Department is reminding the public that they are invited to offer comments this week as part of their accreditation process.

The Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement (CALEA) will conduct an on-site reassessment of accreditation, of the Lafayette Police Department from Monday November 4 thru Thursday November 7, 2019.

Employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling (337) 291-7372, on Wednesday November 6, 2019 between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The assessment team will be taking comments on an unrecorded line.

A public forum will take place on Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Police Department located at 900 East University Avenue on the third floor Comstat room.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.
