Registration is open at South Louisiana Community College for a Notary Exam Prep course for the 2020 exam. These courses will now take place on weekends, according to the college

SLCC says they moved the Lafayette course to the weekend in response to working adults wanting the opportunity to enroll in the course. Now, the Notary Exam Prep course will be held on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon starting in February. The course will go through May 2020.

Officials say that the course will prepare students for the exams that will be administered by the State in June.

“Enrolling in a prep course greatly increases your chances of passing this exam, which historically has a low pass rate,” stated Nancy Roy, Outreach and Engagement coordinator for SLCC’s Corporate College. “Our Notary instructors are licensed Louisiana attorneys who are able to explain complex legal scenarios so students better understand the questions posed in the test.”

In addition to the weekend course in Lafayette, SLCC will offer the Notary Exam Prep course on Wednesday evenings in Crowley. The Louisiana Notary Association states on their website that commissioned Louisiana Notary Publics can prepare acts of sale, wills, trusts, real estate transfers, matrimonial agreements, acts of adoptions, and other instruments in writing.
