The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office released a map of gun-free zones ahead of a planned march by the NFAC on Saturday.
Some have questioned why, with several armed protests taking place in the city over the past few weeks, the zones are just now being enforced.
Captain John Mowell with LPSO explains that the zones aren't new - but the map is.
The interactive map, which can be found on LCG's website HERE, shows where gun-free zones are across the parish. A copy of the map is filed with the Clerk of Court.
Ahead of the protest, law enforcement want the public to be aware of where these zones are. Signs are now posted in those areas.
"We don't want anyone to get in trouble. We want everyone to have a great event and a peaceful event," explained Capt. Mowell. "These maps are great. They're interactive, you can get down to the block and street. No one should have any problems if they look at the maps and do what they're supposed to do."
The march will be held at Parc Sans Souci Saturday afternoon.
