The Lafayette General Health System's chief infectious disease physician verifies that the hospitals are not using hydroxychloroquine.

The drug, which has been touted by the president repeatedly, was tried in the hospitals but didn't treat COVID-19 as well as another treatment.

Through LGH spokeswoman Patricia Parks Thompson, Dr. Garo A. Akoghlanian confirmed that LGH is not using the drug.

"We did use it for two months and did not have successful outcomes," Thompson says. "We are having far better results and shorter patient stays with the use of Remdesivir."
