and last updated

On Wednesday, the The Lafayette Parish School Board approved a more than $600,000 budget revision to pay for damage caused by Hurricanes Laura and Delta.

The school board says it's working with FEMA for reimbursement for up to 75 percent of qualified expenses.

The board also approved a budget revision to help pay for a brand new Northside High School.

The new school would be built on the current campus.

Under the current plans, the bulk of the 60-year-old school would be replaced but the school's current athletic facilities would be left in place.

The board also approved upgrades for the athletic facilities at Carencro, Acadiana and Southside High Schools as well as an expansion to the Woodvale Elementary cafeteria.
