Fire brought under control at Lafayette storage facility on Evangeline Thruway

LAFAYETTE, La. — UPDATE: The fire department says that incident was brought under control in 30 minutes. 53 firefighters responded to the call and remained on scene for 4 hours after extinguishing the blaze

A total of 19 storage units were damaged. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Lafayette firefighters are on the scene of a major storage facility fire at Life Storage, 2888 NE Evangeline Thruway.

According to the Lafayette Fire Department, approximately 30 firefighters are on scene working to extinguish the two-alarm fire.

LFD said that the I-49 service road is currently closed.

Multiple storage units are involved in the two alarm blaze.

LFD said the fire is under control and seemingly involved 24 storage units.

LFD said that more information will be released once it becomes available.
