Funeral services will be held next Wednesday for a Lafayette Parish teacher who died earlier this week from complications of COVID-19.

Michelle Suire's funeral will take place at noon at Martin and Castille's downtown location. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. that morning.

Suire, who was a special education teacher at S.J. Montgomery Elementary, died Tuesday from complications caused by the novel coronavirus, her family confirmed to our media partners at The Advocate.

She is survived by her two children, their father, and many loved ones.

According to her obituary, Suire loved traveling with her children, planting in her yard, decorating her home. Her love of animals meant she saved 'more than a few' stray dogs and cats.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lafayette Animal Aid, Hospice of Acadiana, or a charity of choice.
