The availability of hotels in Lafayette is getting very limited. One woman says she tried for almost an entire day to finally get a hotel room.

"It took all day Tuesday literally. It wasn't until about 1 o'clock in the afternoon when I called this hotel property and the girl said you got lucky we have one room left," said Church Point resident Gail Walker. "I said I'll take it I didn't even ask, like I'll take it because there was nothing. I mean everything sold out quickly and I heard today even hotels all the way up to Alexandria are booked."
Walker wasn't taking any chances with Hurricane Laura. She's lived in Church Point for about 20 years and had massive damage from Hurricane Lily back in 2002. Even though her options were limited for evacuation, she was willing to leave.
"I wasn't going through it again so I said I'm gonna be smart and come here in Lafayette and stay and be protected."
If you are planning to evacuate the area, you should look for hotels and availabilities that are within the area that you're evacuating to.
