The D.R.E.A.M.S. Manufacturing Company hosted a Triple Threat of Treats Drive-Thru Saturday at their factory in Lafayette.

At the event, there were free samples of sweets, smoothies, and their famous meat pies.

The D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation of Acadiana established the company to create jobs for individuals with special needs in the Lafayette community by baking and selling meat pies that can be found in grocers across Acadiana. The pies are made from scratch by 24 individuals, and 21 of them have special needs.

Unique Smoothies, another organization that employs special needs individuals, also sold their smoothies and offered free samples at the event.

The drive-thru was a way for the D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation to continue fulfilling their mission.

"We're just trying to bring the public back in and bring awareness to what we're doing, providing a purpose to these individuals," explained Donielle Watkins, director of the foundation. "They really enjoy their jobs and we want to keep them working."

Each vendor had stations located throughout the factory parking lot for social distancing.

The factory is located at 3302 Johnston St in the Acadiana Plaza.

D.R.E.A.M.S. also recently sent 5,000 meat pies to Lake Charles. Read more on that here.
