A suspect has been arrested in connection with a July 31 shooting on Cooper Drive in Lafayette.
24-year-old Cedric James Blackwell of Lafayette was arrested on Wednesday, August 7 in connection with the shooting incident that occurred at the corner of Paul Breaux Avenue and Cooper Drive.
Police say the shooting occurred around 10:50 pm on Wednesday, July 31. At the scene, officers located a 35-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That person was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Blackwell was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail on one count attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond is set at $200,000.
The United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force, LPD Special Investigations Unit, and Lafayette City Marshals Office assisted with the investigation.
