African American Heritage Foundation's annual Black History celebration wrapped up today with a parade on Willow Street.

The parade rolled at 2 p.m., with retired State Rep. Terry Landry serving as Parade Marshal.

The 17th annual celebration also included a Gala, held Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary. The theme for this year's event is, " Let Freedom Ring: Organizations Empowering the Community."

The committee this year honored organizations who have made a difference in Community:

100 Black Men
Greater Southwest Black Chamber of Commerce
Heritage Community Marching Band
Lafayette Mardi Gras Festival, Inc.
NAACP

"It's wonderful to see the people come together to acknowledge and celebrate their heritage," said Clovis Nopul.
