Tonight at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Multipurpose Center, the African American Heritage Foundation is celebrating Black History Month with their annual gala.

This year's theme is Let Freedom Ring: Organizations Empowering the Community."

The foundation is hosting their annual parade on Sunday, recognizing groups such as 100 Black Men, the NAACP, and the Greater Southwest Black Chamber of Commerce. Former State Representative Terry Landry will serve as Grand Marshall. That parade starts at 2 p.m. at True Vine Ministries in Lafayette.

One member of the African American Heritage Foundation would love the public to see their work.

"Come out and join us. If you come out and see what we do for the community and how we recognize people, maybe one day you'll be here and we'll recognize you."
