As Tropical Depression Imelda moves slowly up through central Texas our proximity to the storm means that we will have to deal with our own round of tropical weather.

Rain bands will spread east from the system giving us periods of on and off again tropical showers through Wednesday afternoon.

While the impacts in Acadiana will be minimal there is a concern for major flooding along the Texas coastline and even up into the greater Houston area.

The slow moving system may expand slightly eastward bringing several inches of rain to Lake Charles Wednesday and Thursday so a Flash Flood Watch for both Calcasieu and Cameron Parish.

Imelda will crawl northwards, which for us means that the steady flow of moisture into the atmosphere will remain through the remainder of the week.

As moisture continues to move into our atmosphere it will keep the rain chances elevated through the rest of the week.

This weekend is starting to show signs of some drier air getting into the area which will make the early mornings feel a little more comfortable.

That dry air will also be important in trying to keep a tropical wave down in the southern Gulf of Mexico and away from Louisiana.
