Winter Weather: Vermilion Parish

Tonight, Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon has established a parish wide curfew prohibiting and/or controlling vehicular traffic except essential emergency vehicles and essential personnel between the hours of 6 p.m and 6a.m. effective February 15, 2021 and ending no later February 17, 2021.

And, to coincide with the rest of the parish, the city of Abbeville is instituting a citywide curfew from 6:00 p.m. tonight until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow due to the inclement weather. Please shelter in place whenever possible and stay off of the roadways. If there is an emergency, please contact emergency services. Emergency personnel are asking for the public's cooperation and understanding that it may take them longer to safely respond to emergency situations.

As of 9 a.m. Monday, we have no reports of closed roads in Vermilion Parish.

Here are the parish closures we've found:
The Vermilion Parish School Board Central Office Main Building will be closed at 3:30 today as we will be shutting down all systems and water for cold-weather preparation during the break.On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week all schools and central office buildings will be closed. All extracurricular events on Sunday and Monday are being postponed at this time due to the forecasted weather conditions from the National Weather Service.

The Assist Office in Abbeville will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2021 due to the forecast of severe weather. The office will also be closed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 for the Mardi Gras holiday. Offices will reopen Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
