Family and friends are holding a vigil tonight for two New Iberia brothers who were shot on Sunday.

13-year-old Demarcus Brown, Jr. was killed in the shooting. His brother, 18-year-old Tre'gon Norman, remains in the hospital in a coma.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. on Johnston St. Demarcus died at the scene.

Those who showed up to Pecot Park for the vigil wore red, black, and silver - some of Demarcus's favorite colors. Others wore t-shirts with the brothers' faces on them.

Balloons were released in memory of Demarcus, while prayers were said for Tre'Gon.

The victims' mother and father tell KATC that the two brothers were very closeand never would have imagined Sunday night's tragedy.

According to police, no arrests have been made.

Their mother is pleading for people to come forward while she holds onto hope for Tre'Gon.

"To even think about losing both of them would just tear my heart out of me," Shaquita Perro said. "Those were innocent kids. My baby would never see 14. My baby hadn't even lived his life."

There will also be a candlelight vigil held Tuesday night on Johnston St. in New Iberia. That starts at 8:00.
