Grand Isle State Park has closed to visitors on Friday, June 5 as Tropical Storm Cristobal makes its way to Louisiana.
The Louisiana Office of State Parks announced Friday that the park was closed beginning at 12 pm following recommendations from the mayor and town council.
A mandatory evacuation was issued due to the approaching tropical storm.
The closure will remain in effect until Monday, June 8.
The state parks office says that current overnight visitors have the option to change the dates of their stay or transfer their stay to another Louisiana state park of their choosing at no extra charge.
They may also be refunded in full. The state says registration agents will be in touch with visitors.
