Grand Isle orders mandatory evacuation as track for TS Sally changes

Grand Isle Mayor David Camardelle has called for a mandatory evacuation Sunday morning, According to Nola.com.

The evacuation is due to a "sudden changes in Tropical Storm Sally."

KATC's meteorologist Daniel Phillips has a breakdown of the latest track and expected intensity here.

The evacuation order for Grand Isle begins at 9:00 a.m.

"Because of the high tides on LA Hwy 1 this would cause some difficulties in leaving the island," Camardelle said in a news release obtained by Nola.com. They report that an evacuation center will be opened at Raceland Recreation Center at 221 Recreation Drive.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell issued a mandatory evacuation order for areas outside levee system (Venetian Isles, Lake Catherine & Irish Bayou) starting 6pm Sunday..
