A fundraiser in Lafayette Parish is hoping to help local families facing homelessness due to COVID-19.

The initiative created by Social Entertainment is the third fundraiser put on by the company.

The "Lost My Home Fund" kicks off on Friday, June 12, with the goal of raising $50,000 for Catholic Charities of Acadiana.

The funds, according to the company, will help families in Lafayette Parish who lost their home due to the COVID-19 crisis.

According to a press release, Lafayette Parish has seen a 58% rise in homelessness since the onset of the COVID-19, with 450 new individuals experiencing homelessness.

Social Entertainment has also raised funds for local musicians and service industry workers with the "Lost My Gig Fund" and "Lost My Tips Fund." In total, nearly $100,000 was raised between the two initiatives.

To learn more about the fundraiser and how to donate, visit the Social Entertainment Facebook Page or the Catholic Charities of Acadiana website.
