Louisiana election officials say they expect a big turnout for the November 3 election, thanks in part to an increase in voter registration.

So far, more than 159,000 people are registered to vote. Of those, 51,000 are registered as Democrats. 63,000 are registered as Republicans, while 44,000 people are registered as "Other" or Independent.

First time registered voters we spoke to say they're ready to cast their ballot.

"People need to start voting, young people," said Floyd Darby. "I decided, hey, I want to try and vote. And if I can vote then I'm going to vote, because my vote can make a difference in the world."

If you haven't registered to vote yet, you can do so at sos.la.gov.
