Today Louisiana State Troopers joined with other law enforcement agencies to escort the body of Hancock County Sheriff's Lt. Michael Boutte back home to Mississippi.
Boutte was shot in the line of duty on Monday, and was transported to a New Orleans hospital where he died.
Troopers, New Orleans Police officers, Slidell Police officers, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies and St. Tammany Parish deputies joined other officers for the escort to the Mississippi state line, where Boutte's body was met by his brothers and sisters from Hancock County, Mississippi state police and officers and deputies from across his home state.
Hancock County officials held a press conference today to talk about Boutte; if you'd like to watch it click here.
