VENICE, LA — Two people and a dog were rescued from a disabled vessel that was taking on water near Venice on Sunday.
The Coast Guard says they received a report at 8:05 p.m. Sunday of a disabled 35-foot sailing vessel which was taking on water. On board was one adult, one child and a dog. Officials say the boat was 15 miles southwest of Southwest Pass, Louisiana.
A helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans was launched to rescue the people and the dog. They arrived on scene at 11:24 p.m., hoisted the two people and the dog and transported them to Air Station New Orleans in stable condition.
The Coast Guard was aided by several good Samaritan vessels in the area, according to a release.
