Two dead after plane crashes in New Orleans East

NOLA Ready is reporting that two people are dead after a plane crash in New Orleans East on Friday afternoon.

According to officials, the plane crashed in a small field near Morrison Road and Jordan Road.

NOPD, NOFD, and EMS all responded to the crash.

The New Orleans Fire Department briefly fought a small fire and New Orleans Emergency Medical Services confirmed the fatalities of the two people on the aircraft.

There have been no reports of significant damage to areas around the crash and no other injuries have been reported.

The New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness are coordinating with federal officials who will lead the investigation. The federal agencies investigating will be the FAA's Flight Standard Office and the National Transportation and Safety Board.

The investigation is still ongoing.
