Two adults and toddler killed in LaSalle Parish crash

On Monday, a crash involving two vehicles killed a toddler and two adults, all from Olla, LA.

According to Louisiana State Police, the toddler was not properly restrained in a child safety seat and the two adults were also not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers say they responded to the crash around 11:30 a.m., on LA Hwy 127, south of Olla. The crash involved an 18-wheeler and another vehicle. That vehicle was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 127, slowing to make a right turn, when the southbound 18-wheeler collided with it.

After the initial impact, the vehicle overturned and the 18-wheeler collided with a tree.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was wearing his seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. He was transported to Hardtner Medical Center for treatment. The unrestrained teenage driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center. Her three passengers, identified as 45-year-old Vicki Sears, 24-year-old Brittney Martin and a 3-year-old child were pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
